Our principal and staff
Our school team is committed to every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging. We work together to create a supportive and inclusive school where every child is set up for success.
Welcome from our Principal
As Principal, my mission is to develop young men and women who are aspirational and contribute positively to Australian society. Girraween High School has a proud history of academic excellence, preparing students for university and future careers. Our dedicated teachers focus on explicit teaching within the classroom and opportunities across a broad range of cocurricular activities to ensure student engagement across the four Domains of Giftedness.
We provide extensive student leadership opportunities, guided by our Core Values of Aspire, Respect, and Unite. These values are integral to our school culture and focus on fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration amongst our students.
In addition, we emphasise student wellbeing by building resilience and self-regulation skills, ensuring our students become engaged, confident learners. Our holistic approach to education, ensuring that our graduates are well-prepared for the demands of tertiary education and life beyond high school.
Mr L Crangle Principal of Girraween High School
Our school leaders
Our school leaders, including our principal, guide teachers and students. They help create a school culture where every child is supported to grow and thrive.
Our Staff
Our dedicated teaching staff bring a wealth of subject expertise and are highly trained in High-Performance Gifted Education (HPGE), ensuring all students are supported to achieve their full potential and meet their individual aspirations. Many of our teachers are experienced HSC markers and judge markers, with detailed knowledge of how to maximise student results.
Each year, new staff engage in professional learning with the University of NSW and undertake the Mini Certificate of Gifted Education (Mini-COGE) to ensure staff are equipped to cater for the needs of academically gifted students. Staff are committed to creating engaging and challenging learning environments that inspire student success.
Supporting our teachers are our skilled school support staff, who play an essential role by providing expertise that helps the whole school community thrive. Our experienced and caring Wellbeing Team, including School Counsellors and Year Advisers, works to create a safe and nurturing environment by tailoring support to meet students’ emotional and social development.
Together, our staff team focuses on fostering a positive and dynamic educational experience that empowers students to achieve their fullest potential.
