Interpreting and translations

We will help you communicate with our school. If you’d like an interpreter for a school meeting, let us know and we will arrange one, if available.

If you don’t speak or understand English well and want to contact us, call TIS National on 131 450 and ask for an interpreter in your language. The operator will call the school and get an interpreter to help. This service is free.

For more information, listen in your language.

Visit the department’s translated documents section for important information that’s relevant for your child’s education in many languages.

Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C)

Our Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) is made up of parents and carers, teachers and community members. The P&C meets regularly to contribute to decision-making, developing policies and management plans as well as fundraising.

P&C meetings are held every 4th Wednesday of the month (except during holidays) at 6:30pm in the staff common room or library.

The P&C and the school work closely together to provide support for the school in the form of consultations with regard to any school issues and fund raising to improve the school facilities. Monthly P&C meetings provide a forum for parents to have input into specific school issues, and to gain valuable feedback from the staff members attending.

The P&C takes an active interest in improving school facilities and support the valuable parent information evenings held throughout the year. P&C also takes an active role in placing parents in the staff recruitment panels, student selection panels and school finance committee to ensure fair representation throughout the year.

Other involvement

The P&C aims to foster close relationship between parents, teachers and the students. With this aim in mind, we sponsored the world teacher's day organised by the prefects and captains of the school. It has always been encouraging to have representatives from student representative council (SRC) attending P&C meetings thus maintaining the rapport between students and parents.

The P&C took up and escalated the initiative started by a concerned parent to get direct bus services from Glenwood to Girraween. It worked hard by liaising with the State and Federal members and with the office of the NSW Minister for Transport. As a result, a direct afternoon service was commenced and the P&C continues to strive for a morning service to also be included.

Recently there has been a surge in parent enthusiasm towards the P&C which was evident from the latest meetings. The P&C urges all parents to keep up this momentum and play an active part in supporting the school.

Financial support

Financial support provided to the school by the P&C during the 2015 year were:

  • Computers for the multi-media centre (MMC) funding of $10,476
  • Upgrade to the drama and dance room funding of $4,586
  • Provision of funds of $15,000 to install further power points in the technology and applied studies practical rooms.
